It is important to make your gypsy safari booking in advance. This isn’t one of those “I’ll just book when I get there” kind of things. Ranthambore is a top tourist spot, and Gypsy slots are quickly booked. Try to make your safari booking 60–90 days before your visit. In fact, the official booking opens 120 days in advance.

Choose your zone after being sure about it. Ranthambore is divided into safari zones. Zones 1 to 7 are known to have better chances of tiger sightings. Zones 8 to 10 are beautiful for nature lovers, but sightings can be fewer. It’s not allowed to choose a particular zone, but you can choose from 1 to 7 or 8 to 10. The forest department allocates zones based on availability. Once it’s allotted, it can’t be changed. So, do a little research on zones and make a booking according to your sightseeing preferences.

When you book, you’ll need to provide the details of an ID proof, such as an Aadhaar card, a passport, a Voter ID, a PAN card, or a driving license.

On the day of the safari, you have to carry the same ID you used during booking. No excuses, no “I forgot.” Without the ID proof, entries are not allowed inside the park. We even advise the tourists to carry the original plus a printout because network and battery problems in the phone are common.

Ranthambore offers two Gypsy safari slots each day - the morning safari or the evening safari. You can book any of them according to your plans, or you can book both of them - you just have to make two separate bookings.

Safari permit charges in Ranthambore are non-refundable. If you miss it, cancel, or arrive late, then no refund will be given. Plan your travel time carefully from the resort to the safari gate, and if you’re coming from another city on the same day, make sure you arrive on time.

You can either book the whole Gypsy for yourself (private safari) or share it with others. The private booking allows travelers to enjoy a safari ride without any issues. You can even do photography, and this one is perfect for families. Whereas, the shared safaris allow people to enjoy a ride without paying full charges for the whole safari. Also, this is good for those who like to meet new people. If you have any doubts regarding private and shared gypsy, call us and we’ll clear your doubts related to permit booking.

Different zones have different reporting gates. For example, zone 2 can be entered through Sherpur gate, but zone 7 can be entered through Chidikho gate. Make sure to have enough time to reach the gate 30–45 minutes before safari time. In that time, IDs are checked, guides are assigned, and Gypsies are organized before departure. If you arrive late, then fellow passengers won’t wait, and gypsy will go inside on time according to park rules.
